The Metropolitan Police Service commissioned Axis for an electric vehicle charging point installation project at Met Police station car parks located across London.

Our Mechanical and Electrical team were commissioned to install electric vehicle charging points for the Metropolitan Police Service.

Project Details

The Metropolitan Police Service introduced a number of electric vehicles to their Fleet Patrol Cars. This came as one of their new Carbon Reduction projects. Our Mechanical and Electrical Division was commissioned to install charging points within the Met Police Service’s station car parks located at Islington, Kentish Town, Kilburn and Charlton.

The Mechanical and Electrical team was also contracted to take on the accompanying work within this project. The scope of works included the site-specific provision of new electrical supplies for electric vehicle charging outlets. Our team laid new cable routes with high-level containments and included the introduction of Building Management Systems (BMS) controls.

The outlets are supplied from the main LV switchgear located within each building. The LV sub-mains feeders come from the main LV switchgear distribution boards. We designated these to feed into the final circuit electric vehicle outlets. We also built crash barriers to accompany and protect the charging points.

Apart from electric vehicle charging point installation, we have a longstanding partnership with the Met Police. In the past six years, Axis has successfully delivered various projects on the Met Police Estate. We have completed work at over 64 of their 200+ premises; all in live operational environments and some in high-security locations.
