Our Heritage Division secured this void property refurbishment contract having successfully delivered specialist works to the iconic Georgian Doll’s House on behalf of The Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn. We carried out a programme of works to a Grade II* listed building located within the Inn. The Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn is one of the four Inns of Court in London to which barristers of England and Wales belong and where they are called to the Bar.

Project Details

Our team began the project with a soft strip, whereby we rewired and installed new gas and heating supplies. This was followed by internal redecoration, flooring and plaster works. We installed five high-spec bathrooms as well as three kitchenettes over three floors, all of these were designed in keeping with the interior character of the buildings.

The team had LED and suspended lighting designed and installed to highlight the traditional features within the rooms. We then carried out various refurbishment works externally to the building, including the ease and adjustment of sash windows. This was done to preserve and maintain the exterior appearance of the buildings.

The team applied gold leafing to a number of street furnishing features, including the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn crests displayed on the bollards. We also applied gold finishes to drains and the historic water pump from which the surrounding chambers once drew their water supply. Our void property refurbishment works were all of a specialist nature in order to maintain consistency in the traditional style and design of the buildings. We chose materials in line with the building’s authentic features.
