Project Details
In just eight months Axis’ Heritage Team completed a £570,000 heritage modernisation project to the ground floor at South Square in Gray’s Inn, the hall and railings of which are Grade I listed.
After a full strip out and careful, licensed removal and disposal of asbestos. Axis’ team conducted full bathroom/shower room/toilets fitouts. We installed new French panelling and herringbone wooden flooring throughout as well as new carpets. And a kitchen fitout and the installation of tea points all with quartz worktops/breakfast bar plus full redecoration with carefully-chosen appropriate paint throughout completed the picture.
In addition to creating a bespoke DDA bathroom, our DDA adaptations included the installation of a ramp and bridge to the exterior.
Bespoke installations included Crittall doors to the offices and, to the exterior, the oak front door, along with Portland stone door surround, Portland stone plinths and tapered Portland steps. The exterior railings are Grade 1 listed and so we had railings made especially to match with bespoke Portland stone capping.
All our works were in keeping with the character and style of the building, and materials were chosen to align with the building’s historic features and created a modern, stylish and practical work space for the leading firm of commerical law barristers who work here.
